After the suicide of B., a writer born in Auschwitz, his editor in post-communist Budapest searches for the last novel B. is rumoured to have left. The hunt blurs the editor's account with fragments of B.'s own text and play. Kertész wrote it as the closing volume of the sequence that began with Fatelessness, which is not held in this archive.
