Anansi and the Sky God's Stories

Akan folktale · c. 1600 CE · Myth / Legend · West African · Renaissance

The spider asks the sky god for all the world's stories and is quoted a price: a python, a leopard, a swarm of hornets and a fairy, delivered alive. He goes after each with flattery, a measuring stick and a hollow gourd. Cunning instead of strength.
