Animal Crackers

Victor Heerman · 1930 CE · Film · Modern / American · Modernist

A Long Island hostess throws a party to unveil a valuable painting and receive Captain Spaulding, an African explorer with no interest in Africa, while two art thieves, a mute harpist and a piano player circle the drawing room. The plot exists so a bridge game, a musical interlude and a lecture on the flora and fauna can be interrupted. Filmed at Astoria straight off their Broadway run, it fixed the personas for sound.
