Asylum

Régis Jauffret · 2005 CE · Novel · French · Contemporary

The break-up of a couple is told in turn by the woman, the man, his mother and his father, each monologue wounding the others by what it leaves out. Cruelty and self-deception accumulate through the voices. Jauffret's cold, comic precision made him one of the more discussed French novelists of the decade.
