El vano ayer
Isaac Rosa · 2004 CE · Novel · Spanish · Contemporary
A professor at a Spanish university disappears under Franco in the 1960s, and the narrator reconstructs the case from invented testimony, doubting his own account as he goes. The novel asks how a later generation can imagine a repression it did not live through. It won the Romulo Gallegos Prize in 2005.
