My Left Foot

Jim Sheridan · 1989 CE · Film · English · Contemporary

Born with cerebral palsy into a Dublin family of thirteen children, a boy who cannot make himself understood chalks a word on the floor with the one limb he controls, and his mother starts saving for the chair the doctors will not supply. He learns to paint, falls for the therapist who teaches him, and drinks in the pubs with his brothers. Sheridan's account of Christy Brown announced a new Irish cinema.
