The Trolley
Claude Simon · 2001 CE · Novel · French · Contemporary
An old man lies in a hospital bed and drifts back through the Perpignan of his childhood, the tram he rode there and the mother he lost. Memories run into one another in long unbroken sentences without chronology. It was the last book Simon published, in his late eighties, and returns to the autobiographical ground of his earlier novels.
