Whiplash

Damien Chazelle · 2014 CE · Film · Modern / American · Contemporary

A first-year drummer at a competitive conservatory is pulled into the studio band of a teacher who throws chairs, hunts for the player rushing the tempo, and works students until their hands bleed. Practising alone at night, he trades a girlfriend and a father for a chair he may lose anyway. Chazelle's second feature took three Oscars, one for the teacher's performance.
