2017
A gem cutter in a Urals city is drawn into a world of stone collectors, the mountain spirits of the old Ural tales and a planned re-enactment of the 1917 Revolution, in the novel's imagined 2017. The play-acted revolution begins to turn real. It draws on the tradition of the Ural storyteller Bazhov, whose tales are not held here.
