Angels in America

Tony Kushner · 1991 CE · Play · Modern / American · Contemporary

New York in the middle 1980s: a young man with AIDS is left by the lover who cannot watch it, a closeted Mormon clerk is pushed toward the truth by his wife's pill-fed visions, and Roy Cohn instructs his doctor that what he has is liver cancer. The lives cross through hospital rooms, Brooklyn, Salt Lake City and a hallucinated Antarctica while something keeps trying to come through Prior Walter's ceiling. Kushner's two-part fantasia is the defining American work of the epidemic and of the Reagan decade.
