Blind Sunflowers
Four linked narratives of defeat from 1939 to 1942, among them a Francoist captain who sides with the surrendering losers and a boy whose father hides in a wardrobe. Published posthumously, the collection won the Premio Nacional de Narrativa and became a central text of Spain's reckoning with the postwar silence.
