Django Unchained
A German bounty hunter buys a slave off a Texas chain gang because he needs a man who can identify three targets, teaches him the trade, and agrees to help him find his wife. She is held on a Mississippi plantation whose owner stages fights between men for his guests. Tarantino won a second screenplay Oscar and reopened the argument about his use of period violence.
