Glory
A young Boston officer wounded at Antietam is given command of the first Northern regiment of Black soldiers, and writes home as his men drill without boots, are paid less than white troops and are kept from any fighting. A runaway, a former field hand and the sergeant-major argue over what the uniform is worth to them. Zwick's account of the 54th Massachusetts put Black Union service back into popular history.
