Guerrillas

V. S. Naipaul · 1975 CE · Novel · Caribbean · Contemporary

On a Caribbean island living off bauxite and rumour, a half-Chinese revolutionary runs a failing agricultural commune he has named Thrushcross Grange and writes letters to an English admirer he half invents. A burnt-out South African liberal and his bored lover drive out to help. Drawn from the Michael X killings in Trinidad, which Naipaul had already reported at length.
