Judas and the Black Messiah

Shaka King · 2021 CE · Film · Modern / American · Contemporary

A Chicago car thief caught impersonating a federal agent is offered his freedom for informing, and is placed inside the Illinois chapter of the Black Panther Party as its twenty-one-year-old chairman builds a coalition across the city's gangs and white poor. King cuts the organising - breakfast programs, clinics, speeches - against the handler's diner meetings and the Bureau memos ordering the chapter neutralised. Drawn from the O'Neal and Hampton record rather than from any book, it won Daniel Kaluuya the supporting actor Oscar.
