Lizard Tails

Juan Marsé · 2000 CE · Novel · Spanish · Contemporary

In Barcelona in 1945 a boy lives with his pregnant mother while his anarchist father is missing and a policeman keeps calling at the house. The story is told by the unborn second child, who somehow hears and remembers everything from the womb. Marsé's fable of postwar Francoist memory won the Premio de la Critica in 2000 and the Premio Nacional de Narrativa in 2001.
