Platoon

A volunteer drops out of college and joins a platoon near the Cambodian border in 1967, where the men divide between two sergeants who despise each other. A village search turns into an atrocity, the split becomes open, and the war outside the wire starts to matter less than the one inside the unit. Stone drew on his own tour and pushed Hollywood's account of Vietnam down to the infantry's eye level.
