Puss in Boots: The Last Wish
A swashbuckling cat who has spent his fame carelessly is told by a village doctor that he is down to the last of his nine lives, and retires into a cat lady's house until word reaches him of a wishing star in the Dark Forest. Three parties want the map: a crime family of bears, a pie magnate hoarding fairy-tale relics, and the black-cloaked bounty hunter whistling somewhere behind him. Perrault's boot-wearing cat is turned into a study of mortality here, and the stepped frame rates and painterly linework broke with the photoreal house style DreamWorks had settled into.
