The Princess Bride
A grandfather reads a sick boy a story about a farm girl, the stable hand who answers everything she asks with the same three words, a masked pirate, a giant, and a Spanish swordsman with a father to avenge. The boy keeps interrupting to check there will be no kissing. Reiner's fairy tale did modest business on release and became a video-era favourite that its admirers can quote line for line.
