Twenty Years After
Two decades on, the four friends are scattered and, worse, divided: the Fronde has set Paris against Mazarin and each of them has taken a different oath. A crossing to England puts them in the way of Cromwell's ascendancy and a king awaiting trial, while Milady's son works patiently toward the men who killed his mother. Middle age, divided loyalty and the cost of the first book's victories are the real subject.
