The Devil's Blind Spot
Five hundred very short prose pieces mix documented incident with invention, moving across wars, love affairs, catastrophes and chance encounters of the twentieth century and earlier. Kluge, the filmmaker and heir of the Frankfurt School, assembles them as a montage with no central plot. The English selection of 2004 is named for the German title's phrase, the gap the devil leaves.
