The Last Quarter of the Moon
A ninety-year-old Evenki woman, the last chieftain's wife of a reindeer-herding clan beside the Argun River, looks back across the twentieth century. Her people's migrations through the northern forests give way to Japanese occupation, revolution and forced resettlement. It won the Mao Dun Literature Prize in 2008 and appeared in English in 2013.
