The Ruin of the Sky

Luis Mateo Díez · 2000 CE · Novel · Spanish · Contemporary

A country doctor writes what he calls an obituary of the villages of Celama, a stretch of the Leonese plateau that is being emptied and drowned. His account gathers the characters, rites and rumours of a place that is passing out of the world. It belongs to the invented territory Díez has built across his fiction, and won both the Premio de la Crítica and the Premio Nacional de Narrativa.
