In a Castilian village in 1940, a travelling picture show brings Frankenstein to the hall, and six-year-old Ana watches the monster meet the girl by the water. Her older sister tells her the monster is a spirit living out at an abandoned sheepfold, and Ana goes looking for him. Franco's Spain as a silence between children.
