The Last Picture Show
Peter Bogdanovich · 1971 CE · Film · Modern / American · Contemporary
In a dwindling North Texas town in 1951 two high-school football players share a girl, a pool hall and the one picture house, which is losing money and about to close. The older man who owns the café, the hall and the cinema is the nearest thing either boy has to a father. Bogdanovich shot in black and white against studio advice, and Ben Johnson and Cloris Leachman both won Academy Awards.
