Red River

Howard Hawks · 1948 CE · Film · Modern / American · Contemporary

Tom Dunson quits a wagon train in 1851 to start a herd in south Texas with two head of cattle and a brand of his own design, and fourteen years later drives ten thousand north with the boy he raised. Swollen rivers, rustlers and short rations wear the outfit down while Dunson talks of hanging deserters, until the men side with his son. Hawks shot it in Arizona in 1946 and Howard Hughes held up release for two years.
