The African Queen

John Huston · 1951 CE · Film · Modern / American · Contemporary

A missionary's sister in German East Africa loses her brother after askaris burn out the village in 1914, and leaves on the only transport available, a battered steam launch run by a gin-drinking Canadian mechanic. Before long she proposes taking the boat down a river nobody has navigated to torpedo a German gunboat. Huston insisted on shooting in the Congo and Uganda with most of the unit down with dysentery.
