Eirik the Red's Saga
Outlawed from Norway and then from Iceland for killings, Erik the Red sails west, finds a habitable coast and names it Greenland to draw settlers, and from there Thorfinn Karlsefni and his wife Gudrid set out with sixty men to plant a colony further on. A seeress prophesies at a feast, the crews meet self-sown wheat, and trade with the local people turns to fighting. The later and more shaped of the two Vinland accounts.
