The Ten Commandments
An infant set adrift in a basket of bulrushes is raised as a prince of Egypt, builds a treasure city for the throne, and learns from an old woman in the mud pits whose son he actually is. Made to choose between the crown and the slaves who cut the stone for it, he goes into the desert and comes back with a staff and a demand. DeMille remade his own silent version on location in Egypt with twenty thousand extras.
