What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?

Robert Aldrich · 1962 CE · Film · Modern / American · Contemporary

Two sisters share a decaying Hollywood house: one a former child vaudeville star still in ringlets and cake makeup, the other a screen actress of the 1930s confined upstairs in a wheelchair since a car accident. Meals arrive on trays, the telephone is cut, and the younger sister rehearses a comeback with a hired pianist. It made a genre of the ageing-actress thriller by trading on what audiences remembered of both stars.
