All Aunt Hagar's Children

Edward P. Jones · 2006 CE · Short Story · Modern / American · Contemporary

Fourteen stories of Black Washington, DC, and its migrants from the South across the twentieth century, among them a young woman who goes North and an aging couple who take in a boy. Each answers or continues a story in Jones's earlier Lost in the City (1992), which this archive does not hold. A collection praised as a chronicle of a city that literature had mostly left out.
