All the Beauty and the Bloodshed
The photographer Nan Goldin, who got hooked on OxyContin after wrist surgery, organises die-ins at the museums that carry the Sackler name on their wings, while her slideshows tell the other story: a sister lost to institutions in the 1960s, the Bowery, and friends photographed through the AIDS years. The campaign and the life are cut against each other. Poitras filmed the group's meetings as they happened.
