August: Osage County

Tracy Letts · 2007 CE · Play · Modern / American · Contemporary

After the poet-patriarch of an Oklahoma family disappears, his daughters return to the house and to their pill-addicted mother, Violet. A funeral dinner and a long night of recriminations lay bare the family's history. Premiered at Steppenwolf in Chicago in 2007 and run on Broadway; a three-act family drama in the manner of the American plays of the mid-century.
