Cat on a Hot Tin Roof

Richard Brooks · 1958 CE · Film · Modern / American · Contemporary

A former athlete drinks in an upstairs room of his father's Mississippi plantation, his leg in a cast, refusing his wife and waiting for the click in his head that makes things bearable. Downstairs the family gathers for the old man's birthday with his medical results going unspoken. The Production Code stripped out what the stage version says about his dead friend Skipper, and Tennessee Williams complained of it for life.
