Dart
A single poem follows the River Dart in Devon from its source on Dartmoor to the sea at Dartmouth, spoken in the voices of the people who work and live along it: fishermen, farmers, swimmers, the dead. Oswald built it from tape-recorded conversations gathered over three years, and the river itself runs through the verse as a presence. A book-length poem that works as an oral history and a prayer to a place.
