The Iron Man
Nobody knows where he came from: a metal giant taller than a house walks off a cliff in the dark, shatters on the beach below and puts himself back together piece by piece, then begins eating the farm machinery of the valley. A boy named Hogarth digs the pit that traps him, and afterwards makes the bargain that keeps him fed on scrap. Then something out of space, larger than Australia, settles down on top of it.
