The Iron Giant
In a Maine town in 1957 a boy finds a fifty-foot metal figure eating the power substation, hides it in a scrapyard, and tries to teach it that it need not be what it was built as, while a federal agent boards at the diner. Bird released it into a market that ignored it. Its reputation was made afterwards on home video, and it stands as one of the last major hand-drawn features of the era.
