Jaws

Steven Spielberg · 1975 CE · Film · Modern / American · Contemporary

A swimmer disappears off a New England resort island days before the Fourth of July, and the new police chief, who is afraid of water, wants the beaches closed. The town keeps them open; when that is no longer possible, a marine biologist and a local shark hunter take him out on a boat that is too small. The film that invented the summer blockbuster, largely by keeping its monster off screen.
