Alien

Ridley Scott · 1979 CE · Film · Modern / American · Contemporary

The crew of a commercial towing vessel is woken early from hibernation to answer a signal from a nearby moon, where they find a derelict hull and a hold full of leathery eggs. One of them is carried back aboard with something fastened to his face, and the company's standing orders turn out to have anticipated this. Giger's designs and Scott's haunted-house pacing made science fiction a horror genre.
