Driving Miss Daisy
An elderly Jewish widow in Atlanta reverses her car into a neighbour's garden, and her son hires a Black chauffeur whom she refuses for weeks to let drive her anywhere. Over twenty-five years he takes her to the Piggly Wiggly, to the temple and to a dinner honouring Martin Luther King while the city changes around the pair of them. Uhry's adaptation of his own play won Best Picture and has been argued over ever since.
