Fire at Sea
On Lampedusa a twelve-year-old boy makes slingshots, is treated for a lazy eye and complains of a stomach that will not settle, while a few miles off the island's doctor examines the living and certifies the dead from boats crossing from Libya. The two halves of the island almost never meet. Rosi spent a year living there.
