In Which We Serve

Noël Coward & David Lean · 1942 CE · Film · English · Contemporary

Survivors of a torpedoed British destroyer cling to a raft off Crete while the ship's life returns in flashback through its captain, a petty officer and an ordinary seaman. Coward wrote, scored and starred, modelling the captain on Mountbatten, and Lean made his directing debut on it. The founding work of British wartime realism, honoured with a special Academy Award.
