Julius Caesar

Joseph L. Mankiewicz · 1953 CE · Film · Modern / American · Contemporary

Roman senators talk one another into knifing a general whose popularity threatens the republic, then lose the city to a funeral oration they had agreed to permit. Marlon Brando's Antony, working opposite John Gielgud's Cassius, answered everyone who assumed a Method actor could not handle the verse. MGM shot it in black and white on standing sets to keep the budget lean.
