Alexander Payne · 2004 CE · Film · Modern / American · Contemporary

A divorced English teacher with an unsold novel drives his old college roommate through Santa Ynez wine country for the week before the actor's wedding. One of them wants tastings and quiet, the other wants a last run of sex, and both get entangled with a pourer and a waitress who know the vineyards better than they do. Payne's film is credited with sinking American merlot sales and reviving pinot noir.
