Steel Magnolias

Herbert Ross · 1989 CE · Film · Modern / American · Contemporary

Six women in a small Louisiana town talk each other through a wedding, a Christmas and a funeral in the beauty parlour where they all have their hair done. The youngest is diabetic and marrying anyway, and her mother watches her take on a pregnancy the doctors have warned her against. Harling wrote the original play after his sister's death, and this version turned the parlour ensemble into a perennial.
