The Magnificent Seven

John Sturges · 1960 CE · Film · Modern / American · Contemporary

Farmers in a Mexican village stripped each season by a bandit chief cross the border with a handful of silver and look for gunmen willing to work for almost nothing. Seven ride back with them, fortify the village and train the men who live there, knowing the raiders will return in force. Kurosawa's plot transplanted whole into the western, and the film that made Elmer Bernstein's theme the sound of the genre.
