The Mountaintop
On 3 April 1968 Martin Luther King Jr. returns, tired, to the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, where a young maid brings his coffee and does not behave as he expects. The night turns on whether he can accept what he is about to become, in a play premiered at Theatre503 in London in 2009 and the first by a Black woman to win the Olivier for best new play.
