The Pride of the Yankees

Sam Wood · 1942 CE · Film · Modern / American · Contemporary

A Columbia engineering student who plays first base against his mother's wishes signs with New York, marries a Chicago owner's daughter who heckled him from the stands, and does not miss a game in fourteen years until his hands stop obeying him. Wood had Cooper, a right-hander, bat left and reversed the negative. Made with several of his real teammates playing themselves, it set the shape of the American sports biography.
