The Snowy Day

Ezra Jack Keats · 1962 CE · Short Story · Modern / American · Contemporary

A small boy wakes to snow piled up outside the window, puts on his red snowsuit and walks out into a city street where the drifts come over his boots. He makes tracks with his toes pointing in and then out, drags a stick along a drift, watches older boys throw snowballs from a distance, and packs one to carry home in his pocket. Keats won the Caldecott with the first widely circulated American children's book centred on a Black child.
