The Warmth of Other Suns
The Great Migration is told through three lives, that of Ida Mae Gladney, George Starling and Robert Foster, who left the South for Chicago, New York and Los Angeles between the 1910s and 1970s. Interviews with more than a thousand migrants anchor the book, and each of the three is followed from departure to settlement. Admitted narrowly, as narrative history with three protagonists; the borderline call is recorded.
